Learning auto body from his brother in law who owned a shop in Neptune, Rich Crompton started Rich’s Auto Body by sharing space with Geschke’s Garage. The gas station was eventually purchased by Rich who turned the entire space into a body shop in 1982. Rich Sr. has seen the industry change tremendously over the years but says that Rich’s Auto Body and their big red sign will always be a mainstay in Asbury Park.
Rich Jr. literally grew up in this business. Running around the shop as an infant and at the age of 5 he began racing at Wall Stadium. This is how he developed his passion for working on cars. After graduating college, Rich returned to the shop and began working alongside his father in the office. Jr. officially took over office duty in 2015. Rich Jr. knows that the quality reputation of his business after all these years is the real landmark and hopes to be here for many years to come.
